A session should feel like a supported but joint exploration. We will work together to share expertise, mine in therapy, yours in your life. There may be times when I lead, there may be times when you do. Some sessions will be more about pure support, some may be more about challenge and tacking problems head on. The main thing to remember is I am here to have your best interests in mind and meet you where you are, when your are ready and in the ways which you feel able to move forward.
As sessions are pre-paid, a full refund will be provided if a session is cancelled outside of 48 hours before the appointment.
If cancelled 48-12 hours before the appointment, a refund of 25% will be provided if no alternative can be arranged.
Unfortunately no refund can be provided if a session is not attended without any communication or prior warning within 12 hours of the appointment.
Any common mental health problem such as generalised anxiety, panic, health anxiety, OCD, PTSD, complex PTSD, difficulties relating to mistreatment and abuse, depression, low self-esteem, social anxiety and challenges in overcoming or managing general life demands. Difficulties relating to or from the impact of neurodiversity can also be supported within the context of those difficulties listed above.
All of the techniques I am trained in are available to us depending on what your needs are. We will be guided by the research which tells us what works, the individual map of your difficulty and also, and most importantly, your goals. Typical strategies could include helpfully challenging thoughts which make you feel worse, supporting you to increase involvement in things you enjoy, pacing your effort if there are health conditions, building the ability to be more supportive of yourself and managing emotions that may sometimes feel overwhelming.
Sessions are booked in blocks of 6. NICE Guidelines direct most treatment to include approximately 12-20 sessions depending on the difficulty and other factors that may impact progress.
'Plan B' can be discussed at any point in our contact if the types of therapy I can provide are not be the most likely to help you. The last thing you want is to commit to something that is unlikely to be helpful. Other forms of therapy may be recommended or other services may be suggested such as NHS Services, local charity organisations or specialist services.
The introduction call is free and other assessments and sessions carry different prices depending on need.
